Dogs for Adoption

ADOPTED!!!  Chico (also called Chi-Chi or DeeDee) is the most animal-tolerant bull terrier we have ever, ever met.  He has lived with birds, ferrets, cats, dogs.  He sees turkey, deer, chipmunks....he couldn't care less.  He used to be tentative around strangers, but is getting better by the day.  Still, he needs a home that is calm and structured, willing to crate or separate him if company or visitors make him anxious.  He'll do best in a home without children.  ChiChi is six years old and deaf, but has readily learned hand signals.  He is currently being fostered in Northeastern Pennsylvania where he loves his daily walks in the Poconos, although he makes the occasional trip into NYC too.

ADOPTED!!!  Blue is back!  Animal Control called him that, which we planned to change to something more appropriate.  However, because the family that initially adopted him wanted to keep "Blue," we had a trainer do a little name recognition work and we hate to see all that learnin' go to waste or confuse him!  So Blue it is.

Blue is a joy of a bully, the type who throws himself in front of strangers for belly rubs!  Sadly, Blue's adoption didn't work out:  we call it a no-fault divorce!  Blue is a great dog, the adopters were a wonderful family, it just wasn't the right match!  Blue prefers company and activity and hanging around with his humans. He'll do best with either a fenced yard, lots of exercise, a female dog as a housemate, or living with a retiree or someone who works from home (or any combination thereof).  Once again, we plead forgiveness that we don't have good pictures, but we'll get some soon.  Blue is silly and rambunctious and won't be good in a home with small children, nor does he like cats, but he is quite friendly to dogs he meets and is very attentive and eager to please!

ADOPTED!!!  Lulu is between 1 and 2 years old.  A stray from New York City, she is a very affectionate dog, with the high level of energy one expects from an adolescent bullie. Lulu went to foster care, which we thought would turn into a permanent home.  Alas, Lulu has been relentlessly harassing the mellow male bully in the household.  We now feel that Lulu must be an only pet.  She is a wonderful companion and a quick learner who would benefit from a back yard to call her own, or else daily long walks or jogs.  Dog parks are not a good idea, though. She's still a little gangly and leggy, but will fill out in the coming year to be quite a large handsome girl, even though she will always want to be a lap dog!

Sybil is aptly named.  She's two dogs in one!  The first is a sweet, affectionate, adorable bull terrier; the other is an animal-hating bull "terrorist."  Sybil was hit by a car, leaving her with only three legs and not much of a tail. That doesn't stop her bully spirit, though.  She can walk nicely on-leash, play joyfully with her toys, and be the loving bull terrier you always wanted.  But she should not really be around other animals.  Because of her handicap, a home with a fenced yard is ideal.  Sybil has been kenneled in Long Island, New York, for well over two years and desperately needs her own family. If you can open your heart and home to her, please fill out an application and we will forward it to the all-breed rescue that is trying to place her.  Click here for another view of Sybil.  And here

Diesel......This guy’s a big affectionate bullie boy, and tres handsome.  Fawn bullies are real headturners!  Diesel wants nothing more than to put his head in your lap and get a nice neck massage.  It was Diesel's misfortune to be lodging with another (intact) male and,not unexpectedly, they did not get along.  So his owner dumped him at the shelter.  Diesel has some skin allergies that are kept at bay by feeding a grain-free food (no corn, wheat or soy) or raw food diet.  We are confident that Diesel could live amicably, under supervision, with a mellow female dog.  He's as sweet as can be.  Please consider adopting him.  He is in a kennel now, and would much prefer to be in a warm, comfy home.

Billiard (a/k/a Billie) is a 3 year old female surrendered to the shelter by owners who did not have time for her.  She's a turn-key bullie girl for someone experienced with energetic dogs, but she's probably too easily excitable for a home with small children (even though she loves kids).  She could live, under close supervision, with an easy-going canine to play with, preferably male.   Billie is a dainty bullie, all white with a tiny bit of black around one eye.  She is currently being fostered in Northeastern Connecticut.  (Adoption pending)

The first step in adopting is filling out our Adoption ApplicationIf you have specific questions about any of the dogs, we are happy to answer them prior to your filling out the entire application.  Just email us.  However, no dog will be adopted out without a completed application on file.  Until we develop our online application, please use this version of our Adoption Application

We regret that sometimes we are unable to reply to each and every application in as timely a fashion as we would like.  As an all volunteer organization, our time is stretched "to the max."   So please forgive us in advance.

We also require a home check, if not by one of our representatives, then by an experienced bull terrier owner or rescue person in your area.  We do adopt beyond the area under certain circumstances.  Contact us for more information.

Adoption fees range anywhere from $300 to $600 depending upon the age and health of the bully.  Usually, the fees are at the bottom end of that scale.

We may not have a suitable dog for you immediately, in which case we'll keep your application on file and notify you when your "perfect" companion comes into rescue.  We also share information about potential homes with other bull terrier rescue groups, so be sure to let us know if you've already submitted an application with another organization.
