Adoption Process

Please read these short paragraphs about the adoption process before scrolling down the page to see available dogs.  (And click here for our second page of available dogs.)

The first step in adopting is filling out our Adoption Application.  We regret that sometimes we are unable to reply to each and every application in as timely a fashion as we would like.  As an all volunteer organization, our time is stretched "to the max."    So please forgive us in advance.  We also require a home check.  Adoption fees range anywhere from $300 to $600 depending upon the age and health of the bully.  We may not have a suitable dog for you immediately, in which case we'll keep your application on file and notify you when your "perfect" companion comes into rescue.  We also share information about potential homes with other bull terrier rescue groups, so be sure to let us know if you've already submitted an application with another organization.

Until we develop our online application for your convenience, please use this version of our Adoption Application

SYBIL

BENNY

Zena

We often have dogs available who don't make it up to the website, either because of webmaster time constraints or because we already have applications from suitable prospective adopters on file.  Please send in your adoption application now so as soon as an appropriate dog comes into rescue, we can contact you.

Sybil is aptly named.  She's two dogs in one!  The first is a sweet, affectionate, adorable bull terrier; the other is an animal-hating bull "terrorist."  Sybil was hit by a car, leaving her with only three legs and not much of a tail. That doesn't stop her bully spirit, though.  She can walk nicely on-leash, play joyfully with her toys, and be the loving bull terrier you always wanted.  But she ABSOLUTELY cannot be around other animals.  It's possible, with continual and dedicated desensitization and counter-conditioning, she may be able to walk nicely around other dogs; we can refer you to literature and area trainers who are experienced with these methods. But basically, she can not be placed in a home where she will be exposed to animals. Thus, a fenced yard is essential.  Sybil has been kenneled in Long Island, New York, for over a year and desperately needs her own family. If you can open your heart and home to her, please fill out an application and we will forward it to the all-breed rescue that is trying to place her.  Click here for another view of Sybil.  And here

Benny is a perfect dog for someone who can appreciate the bombast of a bull terrier.  When happy, and Benny is ALWAYS happy, he can't help but show it.  He is energetic, could enter the Olympics as a high jumper and, when that goofy head swings with glee, watch out.  One affectionate bump of his skull and you'll have a concussion.  For this reason, we don't recommend him with small kids, even though he loves them.

Ben-Ben is true bull terrier through and through:  from his tiny little eyes, to his hucklebutts, to his mumbling and squealing and very vocal yawns, to his love of belly rubs, to his expertise in countersurfing!  And how cute his floppy ears are!  Benny likes to go for walks and see and smell new things.  But he hates cats.  He seems to like city life, but he will probably do best with a fenced yard he can survey, and although he comes on too strong with other dogs to be placed in a multiple-dog household, he might benefit from an active female playmate. Benny is in foster care in New York City.   Please contact us for more info.

Billiard (below) (a/k/a Billie) is a 3 year old female surrendered to the shelter by owners who did not have time for her.  She's a turn-key bullie girl for someone experienced with energetic dogs, but she's probably too easily excitable for a home with small children (even though she loves kids).  She could live with an easy-going canine to play with, preferably male.   Billie is a dainty bullie, all white with a tiny bit of black around one eye.

Good looking Lucy (below) is an affectionate 4 year old fawn-colored bully who is fighting with one of the other dogs in her household and so needs to be re-homed.  She is a wonderful household companion and is happy to meet dogs on her walks, and even play with them, she's just not good at co-habitating!  We do think she may be able to live peacefully with a mellow male dog. But no cats, please.  Contact us for more information.  Lucy is currently living in Long Island, New York.

Zena (below and left) is another nice looking fawn female who needs a home without other female dogs.  Zena is almost two years old and lives in Schenectady, New York.  She grew up around cats and kids and plays well with other dogs in general. Preference given to homes within a few hours drive from the Albany area.  Email for more information.
